PE28 / could become permanent
Hours: 7-11am and 2.30-7pm Monday-Friday. Very occasional evening weekend work.
Children: 7 year old with special needs and a 10 year old
The Special Needs girl has 2 rare genetic syndromes. She needs constant supervision so we require a nanny with special needs experience and lots of patience! Ideally we need a driver with own car for rare incidences of school pick up / drop off when the children are not able to go on a bus.
Duties will include: getting ready for school in the morning, school bus support, bit of tidying up after breakfast and help with putting a wash on, making the beds and tidying up and sorting toys. From 2.30 to get the children’s tea ready/any further organising/sorting of toys and meeting the girl off the school bus, looking after her, feeding and on some days bathing.
The girl has learning difficulties, epilepsy, is non verbal and in nappies. She is desperate to explore the world around her but this gets her into trouble sometimes. She has no sense of danger and is a bit like looking after a 2 year old in terms of communication and play. She loves nursery rhymes, singing, being read stories, silly puppet peekaboo games and sensory activities. She has limited attention span so we need someone with lots of energy and who is experienced with and enjoys baby-type play.
We need someone fit and active as the girl is constantly on the go! Good opportunity for someone to learn a lot about special needs and come to paediatrician, neurology, ophthalmology and dietician appointments. The girls is on a special ketogenic diet to help control her epilepsy and has anti epileptic medicine in the morning and evening which need to be administered with meals.
Quite a lot of the job is shared responsibility and there’s a fair bit of sole charge. A team player who can take the initiative to get things done. Mum works from home so is around during the day (occasionally go to meetings in London).
Benefits: 28 days holiday. £1550 per calendar month paid at the end of the month
Very occasionally accompanying the family on holiday – mainly Devon to see family but other UK destinations potentially.
